News > Blockbuster Chooses Blu-ray

June 18, 2007

In yet another of a series of successes for Sony and Blu-ray, Blockbuster has decided to carry only Blu-ray discs in the majority of its retail locations across the country. Those locations already carrying HD DVD discs will continue to do so.

How big of a deal is this? Blu-ray sales only broke one million total recently, but a few major players, including Disney and Fox, have come out exclusively on the Blu-ray side. Toss in the Blockbuster announcement and it's easy to see the writing on the wall. The big media stars are aligning for a Blu-ray win.
