News > Dragon Quest IX to Have Traditional Battle System

April 25, 2007

The latest Shoen Jump magazine carries inside of it a little something about the second most popular Square-Enix RPG series.  It appears that Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Sky for the Nintendo DS will feature a traditional turn-based battle system, as opposed to the action-oriented, stylus-centered scheme that was previously anticipated.

Players will encounter enemies on the field and then proceed to select commands from menus within the 3D battle screen.  A big plus is that this time around is that enemies will be visible in the overworld and can be avoided if the player feels inclined to do so.

Dragon Quest IX is scheduled for release sometime in 2007.
