News > Edge Magazine: 100 Best Games of All Time
July 3, 2007
UK gaming magazine Edge has published a list of "The 100 Best Videogames" in a 260-page volume, due to hit newsstands tomorrow.
Not surprisingly, Nintendo's classic The Legend of Zelda: the Ocarina of Time received top honors, with a slew of Nintendo titles dominating the top ten.
ony Mott, editor-in-chief of Edge had this to say:
"Ocarina of Time is nearly ten years old, but its position at the top slot in Edge's 100 Best Videogames shows that great game design does not age. In visual terms, it obviously cannot compete with today's Xbox 360 and PS3 productions, but, as with many classics, its appeal is about so much more than its appearance."
Here is the complete top ten:
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
- Resident Evil 4 (GameCube, PS2)
- Super Mario 64 (N64)
- Half-Life 2 (PC)
- Super Mario World (Super Nintendo)
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Super Nintendo)
- Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox)
- Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
- Tetris (Various)
- Super Metroid (Super Nintendo)
