News > Far Cry Movie Shooting Soon. Where?!

May 7, 2007

Uwe Boll is becoming somewhat infamous for taking video game franchises and making crappy movies out of them.

That having been said, he will be directing Far Cry next, with shooting beginning on June 20th and lasting through the summer. Since Far Cry takes place on a tropical island, however, one must wonder why filming is to take place in Vancouver, Canada.  That's the same place Boll has used for five of the six other video game films he's shot (you'd think he might realize that it's bad luck).

Also involved with the film are producer Shawn Williamson and photography director Mathias Neumann, both of whom have worked with Boll in the past. The screenplay has been written by Michael Roesch and Peter Scheerer, responsible for Alone in the Dark as well as House of the Dead II.

As for the leading role, both Michael Paré and Jason Statham have been rumored to play Jack Carver.
