News > Iwata Named One of Barron's Top 30 CEOs

March 27, 2007

Business publication Barron's has recently published its yearly Top 30 CEOs feature, and look who made it to the party.  Satoru Iwata, of Nintendo Co. Ltd is the only member of the gaming industry to be awarded a spot on this prestigious list, which considers ALL companies, from coal mining to clothing design.

It comes as no surprise, though, when one takes just a quick peek at the numbers.  Since last year, Nintendo's stock has seen an 82.5% increase, and the company has experienced a 5-year profit growth of 3.0%.  The Nintendo DS is one the most successful products the industry has ever seen, and the Nintendo Wii is still selling like hotcakes after leading the holiday charge of next-gen consoles.

Iwata took the reigns from Hirochi Yamauchi six years ago, and ever since he's been around, Nintendo has been turbocharged.  The man is clearly well-deserving of this honor.
