**** ******** -- everyone's favorite videogame alarmist -- may soon be using his lawyerin' ways for something other than harassing hardworking game developers -- namely, defending his own ass against contempt of court charges.
This pleasant turn of events comes courtesy of GamePolitics, who have apparently been exchanging emails recently with the ol' guy.
The motion to bring He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named before the bar comes courtesy of Philadelphia law firm Blank-Rome -- the legal team who have been representing Take Two InteractiveBully fiasco. Apparently the contempt charge comes after he (it?) flew a bit too far off the handle immediately after Judge Ronald Friedman refused to block the sale of the video game. throughout the whole
While the most hubristic outcome would be to see You-Know-Who take a time-out in the big house, it's much more likely that a negative ruling would result in fines, judicial admonishment or censure for the Florida-based lawyer.
How's he taking all this? About how you'd expect. Some choice quotes from his recent emails:
"You want to play hardball...? You want to try to throw me in jail? You have no idea what you are unleashing in doing this. You're at the brink""If this court in any fashion proceeds toward issuing a show cause order, given its utter baselessness and the bad faith goo in which it slithers, then Thompson will add whatever judge should do so as a defendant in the aforementioned federal civil rights action..."
