News > Joystiq fires lead contributor Robert Summa over controversy
September 11, 2006
Last week Robert Summa was fired over one particular post that many fans were angered over. Robert promised important news at midnight, which, intentionally or not, led to hype that produced hundreds of reader comments throughout the day. At midnight the important news was reported and a great number of fans were disappointed to find that by midnight the news was no longer new, and had already been reported upon earlier that day elsewhere. With a great number of fans annoyed or enraged Joystiq received a great deal of negative comments which led to Robert Summa being fired later that night.
The next day Robert Summa was hired at a different gaming news site, Destructoid, and many Joystiq readers transfered their anger to his first post. Since then (days ago) the heated debate between various readers and website editors (including the lead Joystiq editor Vladmir Cole and Robert Summa himself) has continued to boil on over at EvilAvatar.
