News > Metroid Prime 3 Details Revealed
June 25, 2007
Play magazine recently got a chance to sit down with a demo build of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption at last month's Nintendo Media Summit. Some impressions:
- Motion controls work better than dual joystick
- “Advanced” mode pointer is very sensitive
- Beam stacking a la Super Metroid
- Motion-controlled visor-switching
- Backtracking in Metroid Prime 3 makes more sense than in previous games
- Extra development time was to give the game more polish. Nintendo wanted “Twilight Princess” levels of polish. Game is focused on Metroid fans and hardcore gamers, but still accessible to newcomers due to controls.
- Larger environments, bloom lighting, better textures than Metroid Prime 2
Play magazine also says that Metroid Prime 3 could be the "biggest revolution in FPS gaming since Halo." Those are mighty strong words, and on August 20th the gaming world will see if they are indeed the truth.
