According to Nic Crowe and Simon Bradford of Brunel University's School of Sport and Education, online games are actually good for kids, teaching them lessons about international diversity and promoting imaginative play. According to the article, virtual worlds become a new creative space for children to spend time and explore.
Pretty refreshing to see some actual positive reporting on videogames from a mainstream media source for once. With all of the doom and gloom surrounding Manhunt 2 and other supposed corrupters of our youth, we can't overlook the fact that videogames, beyond being a simple entertainment medium, are transforming our understanding of and interaction with the real and the imaginary.
