In an interview with the UK Official Playstation Magazine (OPM), lead programmer Masaaki Hoshino has revealed that Soul Calibur IV will offer gamers a path to victory other than depleting an opponent's health meter.
"Now there's a gameplay element that will let you win that doesn't involve the health gauge," said Hoshino.
OPM suggested an instant kill mechanic similar to Bushido Blade, which would definitely make things more interesting. That is only one of many possibilities, however. The new game mechanic could be just about anything - I've always been a fan of deadly environmental hazards.
