News > Nintendo Wii Rules June In Japan

July 2, 2007

According to Reuters, Nintendo's little white box has outsold the PS3 by a ratio of six to one in Japan for the month of June.  It has also shifted about 15 times as many units as the Xbox 360.

The Wii sold a total of 270,974 units in that territory, compared to 41,628 for the PS3, and 17,616 for the Xbox 360, meaning that the gap between the consoles is only getting larger as time goes by.  In May, the Wii outsold the PS3 by a five to one margin; in April, it was four to one.

So does this mean that Nintendo is going to sell seven times as many Wii systems as PS3s in July?  I doubt it, but you never know.
