Capcom announced today that over 1 million people have downloaded the Lost Planet single player and multiplayer demos over Xbox Live. They don’t specify how many people downloaded the single player vs the multiplayer but 1 million people total have download either one or the other or both. As far as multiplayer is concerned, more than 300,000 hours have been logged on the up to 16 people multiplayer demo since it was released on November 23rd. That’s some serious time and in that time, people have been finding flaws and nitpicking what Capcom had to offer, ultimately to Capcom’s benefit. Capcom took the community’s critizims and made a number of enhancements to the multiplayer aspect of the game. There’s a lot of hype surrounding this title so we’ll all get to see whether or not this title can live up to it when it’s released January 12th of next year (2007).
Also, the release talks about the Limited Edition version of the game. The Limited Edition will come will the usual steel cover casing (what they’re calling SteelBook) along with an art book and extra “multimedia content”. Also, as I think I may have mentioned before, purchasing the limited edition copy of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition will give you access to an extra “for limited edition purchasers only” multiplayer map that will be available via a free download (not really free since you have to pay the extra loot to get the limited edition) over the Xbox Live Marketplace sometime during the Summer of 2007.
