Reviews > Pinball Hall of Fame
(Wii, PS2, PSP) Hands-On Preview

July 1, 2007

Pinball Hall of Fame - The Williams Collection, due out for the Wii, PS2, and PSP, is an attempt to digitally recreate 8 different Williams pinball machines from throughout pinball history. This is the follow-up to the Gottlieb Collection, the same idea but with Gottlieb tables. The game will begin with 4 available tables, and the other 4 will be unlockable through a game mode based around the collection of tokens. Pinbot, one of my favorite tables, is part of the collection.

The version we got to play was for the Wii, and the tables that were already finished looked great. The PS2 and PSP versions will probably look fairly similar, graphically, and we were told there are different features for each system. For the Wii, shaking the controller allowed us to tilt the table, and for the PSP, players will be able to rotate their PSPs and play the game vertically. The ball physics were already solidly in place and the game felt like real pinball, the result of close consultation with Williams throughout the game's development.

If pinball is your thing, The Williams Collection looks set to let you replay all of the great Williams tables you enjoyed in the past. You can look forward to seeing it this October.
