News > PS3 Boosts Blu-Ray Sales By 1000%

July 5, 2007

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) has announced a huge increase in the sales of European blu-ray discs. To what do they attribute the rise?  The PS3, of course.

Since the PS3 launched overseas in March, SPHE is claiming that blu-ray disc sales have increased by over 1000 percent.

Matt Brown, executive VP at Sony Pictures, had this to say:

"The launch of the PS3 had a tremendous impact on Blu-ray software sales across the board.  Recent sales figures are a clear indication that the PS3 is seen as an entertainment device."

If not games, at least the PS3 has movies.
