In the next few days, Sony will be rolling out their newest firmware update for the PS3. Version 1.82 apparently adds a single new feature - the playback of AVC High Profile (H.264/MPEG-4) files.
This high quality video support will be much appreciated by videophiles, and the update is likely to be followed up by a similar boost in audio support.
Sony is fielding comments, and taking everything into consideration for future updates.
