News > PS3 Price Could Drop Up to $100

May 8, 2007

$600 is a lot of money.  It's also the price of the Playstation 3.  Not all consumers are ready to make that sort of investment, but there is hope.

According to DigiTimes, Sony's laser diode manufacturing plant will be increasing production, thus reducing the cost of PS3 manufacturing by $100.

It's possible that this could mean a price drop for gamers - if Sony decides to pass on the savings.
