June 26, 2007

According to the latest issue of EGM, the newest installment of the popular fighting game will feature online competition on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Said director Katsutoshi Sasaki, "What's changed this time round is that the next-gen platforms have network infrastructure already in place.  We've heard from fans that they really want the game to be online, so we figured that, with the current environment, we really couldn't make SC4 without online play."

As long as this game mode is not bogged down to the point of frustration by lag, this is an excellent decision, and something gamers can really look forward to.  The level of competition in an offline environment rarely matches that of the online world, so the most skilled players could rarely face each other - until now.
