News > The Secret World - New MMO from Funcom

May 13, 2007

The cryptic poem GameWad previously reported on has since been de-mystified.

The game it alludes to is an MMO entitled Secret World, which places players not in a fantasy world full of warriors, rogues, archers, magicians and the like, but in a modern Earthly cities filled with comparably "normal" inhabitants.  The goal is then to unravel the mystery of the titular secret world, which IS the familiar land of fantasy - magic, monsters etc.

Ragnar Tørnquist, the game's producer and director had this to say about Secret World:

“We always wanted a different kind of online world, something scary and contemporary, something deeper and closer to our reality. Our goal now is to create a detailed world where players feel empowered and part of something big, something mystical and epic.”

This game sounds very interesting, especially considering it comes from the same storytellers that brought us The Longest Journey and its sequel, Dreamfall.  Gamers can look forward to its as of yet undated release on the PC and Xbox 360.
